Reata Glen residents donated more than 130 gifts and toys to the Spark of Love program.
What began as an idea to give back to the Greater San Juan Capistrano community ended up proving to area seniors they have the power to make a real difference in the world. In 2020, Reata Glen senior living community hosted monthly donation opportunities for their residents and team members. The program was an effort to help the Greater San Juan Capistrano community following some of the challenges of 2020. The monthly donation opportunities encouraged positivity throughout the community.
“Reata Glen is proud to be part of the San Juan Capistrano community,” said Executive Director Suzanne Nasraty. “The program has shown all our residents and team members they can truly make a difference in the lives of those impacted by the pandemic.”
Beginning in October, the community chose organizations and donated supplies and money to those in need. Some of the items included 550 pounds of food to support the South County Outreach, 100 pairs of eyewear to Eyes of Hope®, and 67 Halloween treats and cards to home-bound seniors living in San Juan Capistrano.
They ended the year with a large toy drive benefiting Spark of Love. In December, they donated more than 130 gifts and toys to the organization.
“We have such an amazing group of residents and team members who call Reata Glen home. This program has shown all of us that we can make a large impact within the community. We’re inspired to have hope for the future and to continue looking for ways to give back in the future,” said Nasraty.
The community plans to continue the program into 2021.
